Assystem at WNE: an exceptional achievement

Assystem, as Platinum Sponsor of this year’s WNE, reaffirmed its commitment to global nuclear energy at the 5th World Nuclear Exhibition in Paris Villepinte, which attracted more than 23,000 attendees and 780 exhibitors from 88 countries over the event’s three days from 28 to 30 november 2023.

As one of the top three nuclear engineering companies in the world, Assystem's experts are supporting the energy transition across 12 countries of operation, highlighting the broad scope of our work with a rich programme of presentations:

  • Four technical workshops and the official tribune on the main stage,
  • Four job passions in the "connect to nuclear" attraction zone, giving students and job-seekers an insight into life at Assystem and the career paths on offer within our nuclear projects.
  • Representation from Assystem’s Switchers in the Gifen Attractiveness Panel: "Building a Diverse Pool of Talents for the Nuclear Industry's Success".

Assystem's WNE highlights

Assystem profiled its expertise and vision for the future of nuclear across a series of presentations. Here are some of our highlights:

The official Assystem tribune on the theme of "Construction Management", chaired by Stéphane Aubarbier, Deputy CEO of Assystem, brought together renowned experts from EDF, Naarea, Westinghouse and China Nuclear Industry Huaxing Construction to discuss key success factors for future nuclear programmes and their crucial role in the fight against climate change.

Other exciting topics presented by Assystem’s experts in workshops included:

  • Intelligent site selection for small modular reactors (SMR and AMR) using a safe and resilient approach combined with artificial intelligence. View the infographic
  • The use of a bespoke digital twin to provide reliable, centralised and contextualised information during the construction phase, structuring the contractual and technical data. View the infographic
  • The creation of a sustainable learning environment using artificial intelligence to give newcomers rapid access to the knowledge and feedback accumulated by Assystem over its almost 60 years history. View the infographic

Finally, throughout the event, Assystem’s stand wowed visitors with immersive demonstrations which highlighted the use of virtual reality and augmented reality in the nuclear field. This was an opportunity to discover the impact of these technologies (virtual reality and augmented reality) on the construction and maintenance phases, as well as for nuclear industry training programmes.

Partnerships for the future of nuclear power

During the WNE’s three days, Assystem signed several agreements reaffirming its commitment to the nuclear industry:

  • A partnership with newcleo to strengthen the collaboration on the AMR (Advanced Modular Reactor) project. Assystem will provide newcleo with expertise in digital engineering, structuring, tools, integration, nuclear safety, and project management,
  • A partnership agreement with Dassault Systèmes to develop digital twin solutions for SMR and AMR projects,
  • Signing a national agreement with Pôle Emploi to support recruitment in the nuclear industry through in-house training schemes.

Opportunities for students and job-seekers

For the first time in 2023, WNE welcomed students and job seekers interested in careers in the nuclear sector to the "connect to nuclear" area during the three days of the exhibition, with conferences, testimonials, and meetings with recruiters and nuclear sector experts offered to attendees. Assystem supported this event by profiling some of its exciting jobs and highlighting the career paths of its Switchers – our community of experts committed to the energy transition - to help attendees learn more about the sector and its prospects.
