Job Description

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join Assystem working within the Warrington area, to support the Mechanical RE and Area Engineering Manager in the delivery of design deliverables. 

Responsibilities will typically include:

  • Information gathering,
  • Investigations/inspections and design,
  • Involving ‘long list’ to ‘short list’ optioneering,
  • Identification of success criteria,
  • down selection, development of solutions,
  • layout drawings and initial equipment design drawings and the production of supporting calculations.
  • To liaise with Stakeholders and Project Management.

My profile

Qualifications/Experience required:

  • Degree in relevant engineering discipline with 2 years design delivery experience OR other qualification such as BTEC, HNC, HND, with 5 years design delivery experience.
  •  Ability to demonstrate equivalent SQEP against SL Designer role SR0754
  • Familiarity and experience of working and complying with applicable SL Practices, standards, and engineering guides.
  • Past experience with producing mechanical based options/concept designs
  • Familiarity with machine design, as such knowledge and past experience using crane and other design specifications and guides desired e.g., The Machinery Regulations, LOLER, and PUWER.
  • Capable of producing designs, schemes, drawings, and supporting calculations.
  • Liaison with key stakeholders and other design disciplines
  • Competent Report writing skills: clearly and concisely reporting findings.
  • Comfortable working under time and cost constraints.
  • The candidate will need to manage their own workload and drive completion of the work scope
  • The candidate will need to be able to communicate effectively with team members and with the Client.
  • Shall be capable of producing designers Risk Assessments and design analysis to ensure Risk Reduction.

Desirable Experience:

  • Proficient in use of AutoCAD and Inventor
    Familiarity with SL systems eg Cimage, preferred.

Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
