Job Description

On behalf of Rolls Royce, Assystem Energy & Infrastructure are recruiting for a Welder to work at the Rolls Royce site in Derby.

As a Welder, you will provide practical support to the welding development projects and support the shop floor to ensure uninterrupted production. 

Role details: 

  • Job title: Welder 
  • Contract length: 12 months 
  • Location: Derby
  • Industry: Defence 
  • Hours: 37 hours, Split between Nights, Afters + Days (overtime achievable)   
  • Contract type: PAYE via Umbrella solution 
  • Location – Rolls Royce (Raynesway) 

What you will be doing:

With this exciting opportunity you will get a chance to be involved with the following:

  • Interpreting manufacturing drawings, technical instructions, and written specifications.
  • Welding and joining all components, using a combination of Electron Beam Welding and TIG Welding techniques, to drawing requirements.
  • Delivering right first-time quality for each operation.
  • Carrying out quality checks on your work and completing relevant documentation accurately.
  • Maintaining equipment and tooling, calibrating appropriately.
  • Working closely together with internal and external customers, including Manufacturing Engineering and Design to continuously improve outputs.
  • This role will require you to be flexible and work a varied pattern of shifts. You will also be required to work a reasonable amount of overtime, when necessary, to meet business requirements.

My profile

What we are ideally looking for in applications: 

  • Experience from an engineering background
  • Time served within an engineering/welding discipline Level 3 as a minimum
  • Familiar with the nuclear industry or Rolls Royce is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of welding processes as related to manufacturing and engineering activities and strong understanding of quality and process control with respect to welding.
  • Experience within TIG technology both manual and automatic.
  • Electron Beam welding would be advantageous.
  • Problem solving and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) experience.
  • Good communications skills and able to interact with people at all levels within the business and appropriate level of IT skill.

 **Security clearance**

Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
