Job Description
Within the Design Service Alliance (DSA), the SMPrO Operating Unit delivers core Asset Care & Gated Project Delivery services, supporting Sellafield’s risk and hazard reduction strategy.
The Improvements Programme Manager is a senior role focused on delivering efficiencies within, and improving the effectiveness of, SMPrO.
The Improvements Programme Manager will effectively organise, plan, coordinate, deliver and report business improvements across SMPrO. Emphasis on establishing key interfaces across integrated site-wide programmes. The role has a strategic focus in terms of being the integrator, influencer and leader of the improvements programme, as well as a tactical focus in terms of delivery of specific improvement workstreams and programme management of DSA tasks.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and deliver the DSA SMPro Improvement Programme such that agreed benefits and outcomes are realised within agreed timescales and budget.
- Being first point of contact for the partner organisations with regards to improvements programme activities.
- Work with AXIOM SMPrO Business Manager and Programme Manager to ensure the SMPrO Management Task Order incentivisation is managed and performed in line with agreed metrics attached to AXIOM Fee.
- Support and demonstrate commitment to the AXIOM and DSA mission, vision and core values.
Responsibilities:
- Principal focal point and liaison with Improvement Workstream Leads and Senior Management representatives
- Monitor and manage the delivery of improvements work scope to agreed milestones, ensuring maximum efficiency within agreed timescales.
- Build strong relationships with Leads and understand challenges to drive delivery and maintain accountability.
- Participate and contribute to required periodic AXIOM and business and operations reviews and reporting cycles, covering all aspects of performance.
- Develop and maintain sustainable business relationships with key stakeholders including partner organisation representatives.
- Matrix management of workstream leads across partner organisations.
- Develop value propositions, maximising opportunities to bring new solutions to the customer, managing from quotation through to contract.
- Taking ownership of workstream issues on projects and enabling their resolution.
- Supporting wider delivery initiatives, wider frameworks, and the DSA.
- Develop and maintain the communication plan, ensuring DSA successes are shared.
- Develop, implement, and manage specific improvement workstreams.
- Demonstrate value and impact, and ensure they are captured through the Delivering Benefits incentive scheme.
- Proactively identify and implement opportunities for innovation in alignment with Axiom’s Innovation Vision and Route map.

Qualifications, Experience and Personal Qualities
- Experience of successful development and delivery of business change and/or improvement initiatives/programmes
- HND or degree qualified in technical, engineering and / or business administration related subject
- Proven and demonstrable Project/Programme
Management Experience
- Familiarity with industry recognised P3M3 Maturity Models
- Proven and effective inter-personal and communication skills at senior leadership level
- Experience in management and/or leadserhip role
- Project / Programme Management Qualification (e.g. APMP / MSP)
- Experience developing and/or implementing operating models using industry recognised methodologies and models
- Experience implementing P3M3 maturity model-based improvement programmes
- Experience of working in a successful alliance and/or JV
- HND or degree qualified in technical, engineering and / or business administration related subject
