Job Description
🚀 Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit! 🚀 Reporting to the Turbine Island Lead, the Senior Mechanical Engineer shall be responsible for various Turbine Island design development activities. The Senior Mechanical Engineer shall work closely with multi-disciplined teams and the supply chain to help deliver the Turbine Island design.
Your mission:
💡 Heat Balance Diagrams: Develop and review Heat Balance Diagrams for the Turbine Island and conventional plant systems.
🤝 Team Collaboration: Work with operations, control, and instrumentation teams to integrate the Turbine Island operation philosophy.
📊 Design Documentation: Create and review Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Layout Drawings, Component Sizing Calculations, Datasheets, and Specifications.
🔍 Optioneering & Design Studies: Lead and review Optioneering Studies, Decision Record Files, Design Descriptions, and Requirement Specifications.
⚙️ Design Integration: Ensure seamless integration of Turbine Island design into the overall power plant.
📞 Technical Support: Act as the technical contact for Turbine Island interfaces and stakeholder activities.
👥 Support Reviews: Participate in Design Reviews and HAZID/HAZOP studies with multidisciplinary teams.
🛡️ Ensure Compliance: Adhere to statutory H&S policies, project quality, and the Quality Management System.

Your Background:
🔧 Industry Experience: Previous work in nuclear, thermal power, oil & gas, or other highly regulated sectors. Skilled with steam turbines, condensers, feedwater heaters, pumps, and piping systems.
🌐 Design Expertise: Experience from FEED to detailed design and EPC delivery.
🛒 Procurement: Proficient in developing procurement specifications and collaborating with suppliers.
⚙️ Technical Strength: Extensive technical background in thermal power systems or similar projects.
💬 Communication: Excellent at interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
📈 Project Management: Skilled in identifying and managing critical interfaces on major projects.
🛡️ Safety Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of UK Health and Safety regulations, safety systems, HAZOP, and engineering standards.
📚 Codes & Standards: Familiar with ASME, European, and UK codes and standards.
🔧 Systems Engineering: Awareness or experience in Systems Engineering is a plus.

🔒 Confidentiality: Professional in handling sensitive nuclear information, adhering to export control obligations.
🎓 Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in engineering🔧 Professional Registration: CEng or working towards it.
🔐 Security Clearance: SC Clearance or capable of achieving it.
