Job Description

Role: Security Assistant 

The Security Assistant will report to the Business Operations Manager to provide assistance to the wider Business.

The list below is indicative but not exhaustive of the duties required from the role and could change at any time in line with business requirements.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working as part of the Security Team.
  • Assist with security requirements.
  • Assist the Business Operations Manager in implementing the Security Improvement Programme which focusses on several key areas such as Culture & Awareness, Governance and Assurance, Personnel, and Information Security.
  • Implement and maintain the Security Risk Management process.
  • The Security Assistant will comply with and demonstrate compliance with GovSec: 007 Security requirements.
  • Assisting the Business Operations Manager in the implementation of security requirements across the Joint Venture in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Administration of the flow down of security aspects letters.
  • Assist on incident management and resolution of incidents, breaches, near misses and driving toward zero events etc, providing lessons learned and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance and provide advice on Vetting and Pass applications
  • Issuing and monitoring SALs, carrying out annual audits etc.
  • Actioning day to day Security tasks including monitoring of the Security inbox
  • Ad-hoc support to the Business Operations Manager as required subject to demands of the security role (priority)

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Microsoft office suite of programmes, specifically an experienced user of Word and Excel.
  • Data entry, reporting, production of data
  • Team player
  • Attended DISA Role of Security Controller course  (or an agreement from the partner to provide/fund this course)

Desirable Experience & Qualifications / Additional information (e.g  Radiological Status Requirements)

  • Experience working within the Civil Nuclear Sector
  • Experience of working with a Facility Security Controller environment
  • Knowledge of security policies, protocols, and procedures

Security Clearance:

Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
