Job Description

CRA is one of the UK’s largest integrated Risk, Safety and Human Factors consultancies. We have a long history of helping our clients in the UK nuclear and other high hazard industries manage risk and ensure the safety of their operations.  As part of the Assystem Group we also have opportunities to support a wide variety of projects around the world.

Our client, managing a large-scale infrastructure project, has asked us to identify Safety Engineering personnel to assist in a mission critical project with challenging timescales; the detail design phase must start no later than February 2023. Opportunities exist for individuals as staff members or as contractors.

Location

We are able to offer a flexible working arrangement that could include a mixture of home working, contractor or client offices.

Job Description – Nuclear Safety Assessor

A radiological Safety assessor is required for a Pressurised Package Facility. Package opening glovebox operations and interfacing activities.

Essential experience & Qualifications – Nuclear Safety Assessor

  • Safety case profession SQEP3 equivalent. SQEP2 possibly accepted with adequate SQEP3 supervision.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications – Nuclear Safety Assessor

  • Demonstrable experience in the production of alpha plants radiological safety assessment (DBAA, PRA, barrier analysis, balance of risk arguments etc.).
  • Internal & external hazards assessment with contaminated wounds assessment desirable but not essential.
  • HAZOP chair / secretary
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline

Communication: Must aim to provide clear, concise and well-reasoned analyses and reports, and present these findings confidently at meetings. Be able to interface and liaise with key client and internal stakeholders, taking full account of a client’s operating culture while conducting audits and investigations.

  • A good team-player with the confidence and ability to question traditional received wisdoms, think laterally and present alternatives.
