Job Description

Assystem Energy & Infrastructure are recruiting for a  Laboratory Technician – Chemistry to work at our customers site in Derby on a contract basis.

The Laboratory Technician – Chemistry role will involve analysis in a radiological controlled laboratory to support a 24/7 production environment. The emphasis is on team work so the role will include analysis, cleaning, sample preparation, carrying out health and safety checks and quality checks for pipettes, balances and instrumentation.

Job title: Laboratory Technician – Chemistry 

Contract length: 12 months 

Location: Derby  

Contract type: PAYE via Umbrella solution

Mandatory person requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years post education lab experience.
  • Minimum qualification level – A- level Chemistry or equivalent.
  • Minimum SC clearance security level required or obtainable.
  • Willing to work with radiological samples and ionising radiation subject to adherence to Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017.
  • Able to work shifts including weekend working

Desirable person requirements:

1.            Experience of Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectroscopy (ICP MS & ICP OES)

2.            Experience of working with gas analysers (specifically hydrogen, nitrogen, and carbon).

3.            Experience of carrying out acid – base titrations.

4.            Experience of working with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).

**Security clearance**

This role requires the successful candidate to hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance.

Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
