Finding solutions to climate change is the priority of the 21st century, and means switching to low-carbon energy. At Assystem, our mission is to accelerate the energy transition worldwide. To achieve this, our 7,500 Switchers combine their historical engineering expertise and project management with digital technologies.


In our 12 countries (Europe, Middle East, Asia) of operation, we are working on the production and distribution of low-carbon electricity, through the development of nuclear and renewable energies. We are also supporting the modernisation and development of energy grids, managing the setup and siting for new transmission and distribution networks, and using hydrogen to decarbonise the transport and industry sectors.


Job Description

About our Graduate Programme:

From Day 1 you will be welcomed to the Assystem family, we will focus on getting you up to speed on what we do, our values, and what you can look forward to on our 2-year experience.

You will have the opportunity to work with customers on live projects, bring value from the start and learn new skills.

As part of the programme, you will have access to Mentors, benefit from peer-to-peer learning through our Graduate Forums, identify and develop skills through our upskilling framework, and the opportunity to work across different industries and customers.

If you are wondering what is meant by ‘Project Controls’, then don’t worry! Put simply, it is the analytical processes used to manage project time and cost, enabling informed decision-making, and ultimately project success. As a Graduate Project Controls Consultant, you will work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

We do not require any prior knowledge or experience, as our experts will teach you the technical bits. We are looking for graduates with a keen interest in improving the delivery of major projects and excellent communication skills (the most important thing for any consultant).

Main responsibilities will include:

Delivery

  • Assist in ensuring that the projects and tasks are delivered to time, cost and quality. Supporting the team accordingly and working with the project manager in making sure all necessary arrangements are in place.

Project Planning and Execution:

  • Assist in creating project plans, including defining goals, scope, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather project requirements and ensure they are clearly documented.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and proactively implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate project activities, allocate resources, and ensure adherence to timelines

Team Collaboration:  

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective project execution.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among team members, ensuring a clear understanding of project objectives and tasks.
  • Foster a positive team environment and encourage teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Risk Management:

  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate potential risks throughout the project lifecycle and implement appropriate risk response plans.
  • Proactively communicate risks to stakeholders and propose solutions to minimise their impact on project outcomes.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are understood and met.
  • Communicate project updates, progress, and changes effectively to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and managing expectations.
  • Address stakeholder concerns and resolve conflicts in a timely and professional manner.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare project documentation, including project management plans, schedules, status reports, and meeting minutes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records, ensuring compliance with organisational standards.
  • Generate reports on project status, key performance indicators, and milestones for presentation to management.

My profile

Essential:

  • 2:1 Degree (no need to be an engineer or mathematician – all disciplines welcome) , 
  • A keen interest in Planning, Project Controls and Project Management

Desirable

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new concepts and technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with individuals from diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and willingness to take initiative.

Requirements for Assystem Graduate Scheme:

  • Successful Candidate must be a UK Sole National
  • Successful Candidate must be willing to travel throughout the UK (this will vary depending on office and client site locations) 

Security Clearance:

The successful applicant must be a UK resident and, due to the nature of the work to be undertaken, applicants will be required to meet this criteria in order to attain a minimum level of BPSS clearance.
