To achieve this, our 7,500 Switchers combine their historical engineering expertise and project management with digital technologies.


In our 12 countries (Europe, Middle East, Asia) of operation, we are working on the production and distribution of low-carbon electricity, through the development of nuclear and renewable energies. We are also supporting the modernisation and development of energy grids, managing the setup and siting for new transmission and distribution networks, and using hydrogen to decarbonise the transport and industry sectors.


Job Description

Experience estimator to undertake cost planning and estimating across all aspects of construction for major projects covering the development and design project lifecycle stages. Utilising appropriate Method of Measurements, e.g. Civil Engineering Standard Method of Measurement and New Rules of Measurement.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work with project team to prepare accurate cost estimates.
  • Understand and absorb information from technical documents.
  • Assess labour, plant and material requirements.
  • Produce quantities for estimates in line with WBS.
  • Identify value generation opportunities.
  • Undertake benchmarking.
  • Monitor project costs against estimate to provide feedback and support benchmarking data generation.

My profile

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Strong knowledge of Cost Planning and Estimating processes and techniques. 
  • Knowledge of Cost Analysis, Cost Modelling and Benchmarking processes and techniques. 
  • Qualified in Cost Planning, Estimating and / or Quantity Surveying. 
  • Experience of civil engineering, M&E projects and / or building projects. 
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant successful experience of the provision of Cost Planning / Estimating in a project environment. 
  • Understanding of the project management, planning, risk assessments and management, and investment authority processes associated with building and / or civil engineering infrastructure projects. 
  • Good communication, analytical, presentation and reporting skills. 
  • Strong IT skills including MS Excel.

Desirable Skills and Experience

 

  • Qualified to a professional standard in cost planning, estimating and quantity surveying through membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or equivalent body. 
  • Educated to degree level. 

 

SC Cleared to start,  Sole UK National

2-3 days/week in a Glasgow office
