Project presentation

As part of the Penly EPR2 project, the client is leading the revision of the technical studies required to draw up the Preliminary Safety Report (PSR), with the aim of strengthening conventional risk management.

The aim of this work is to analyse the potential effects of conventional accidents that could affect the Basic Nuclear Facilities and the Equipment Necessary for their operation, in order to ensure the protection of the interests defined by the regulations. The studies must incorporate the latest technical elements available, not taken into account in previous versions.

In this context, the client has entrusted Assystem with updating the studies contributing to the Preliminary Safety Report on conventional risk management for the Penly EPR2.

Project Scope

The studies supporting the Preliminary Safety Report for the control of conventional risks for the Penly EPR2 include:

  • Description of the site and its environment: Identify the overall context of the site and the specific features of the installations in place.
  • Inventory of potential hasards: Identify all potential hasards associated with the facilities and the products handled.
  • Preliminary risk analysis: Identify risk scenarios based on the hasards identified.
  • Characterisation of the intensity of hasardous phenomena and in-depth risk analysis: Detailed analysis of the severity of risks and the consequences of each scenario.
  • Drafting of studies to support the preliminary safety report for the control of conventional risks for EPR2 Penly.

Client benefits

  • Support from an Assystem Industrial and Environmental Risk Management team with expertise in similar studies on the park in operation.
  • Project management enabling the project to be carried out in a complex environment (changes in input data, very tight planning constraints).
  • Regulatory compliance achieved.
