Sharing expertise and innovation for the future of nuclear power in Türkiye and the region at the NPPES
21 July 2025
On 1–2 July 2025, Assystem took part in the Nuclear Power Plants Expo and Summit (NPPES) held in Istanbul. This annual event brings together public institutions, private companies, technical experts, and academia to discuss local nuclear projects initiatives, technological advancements, and opportunities for regional cooperation.
As a leading nuclear engineering company, Assystem showcased its expertise in engineering, project management, and digital services supporting strategic nuclear programmes in the region, including Akkuyu, Sinop, and future development
- Over the course of the two-day event, Assystem contributed actively both at its stand and on stage through several high-level interventions: Gizem Ozden, Director of Business Development, delivered a keynote titled “SMR Site Assessment for Brownfield Projects”, highlighting methodologies for selecting and evaluating existing sites for the deployment of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). She also moderated the panel discussion on “Nuclear Innovation – Advancements in SMRs and Advanced Reactors, Microreactors to Drive the Future”.
- Frédéric Chéneau, Business Development Director, joined the panel “Prospects for the Use of Atomic Energy in Central Asia & MENA”, where he emphasized the importance of integrating nuclear energy into national energy strategies. He underlined how nuclear power can help meet the rising electricity demand while significantly reducing reliance on fossil fuels and supporting the fight against climate change.
Assystem’s participation at NPPES 2025 reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the nuclear ambitions of Türkiye and the broader region. By providing engineering expertise and digital solutions, the company helps enable a secure, low-carbon energy future
NPPES 2025 confirmed just how central nuclear energy has become to the energy strategies of countries across Central Asia and the Middle East. To meet rising electricity demand while tackling climate change, integrating nuclear into the energy mix is essential. It is a reliable, low-carbon and resilient solution that strengthens national energy sovereignty. Especially on strong local strategies that ensure the development of the local workforce and the transfer of knowledge over the long term.
