Job Description
Design Engineer – Civil (AutoCAD Civil 3D)
Reports to (Job – Role): Lead Design Engineer / Engineering Manager
Reportee (Job – Role): –
Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or Diploma in Civil Engg. or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum 3–7 years in civil design detailing, with at least 2 years in renewable energy projects (Solar/Wind) using Civil 3D.
Objective :
The Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing site grading layouts, terrain models, and earthwork estimations for renewable energy projects such as Solar and Wind farms. The role requires proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for area grading, alignment design, and volume calculations, ensuring optimal land utilization and cost efficiency. The engineer will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, constructible designs aligned with sustainability and project goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare grading plans, surface models, and digital terrain models (DTMs) using AutoCAD Civil 3D for renewable energy plant layouts.

Perform earthwork quantity estimation, cut-and-fill analysis, and optimization for solar and wind farm developments.

Develop alignment designs, profiles, cross-sections, and drainage layouts as part of site infrastructure works.
-
Integrate civil layouts with solar PV array arrangements or wind turbine foundations ensuring technical accuracy.

Generate detailed construction drawings, quantity take-offs, and Bill of Quantities (BOQs).
-
Ensure compliance with international codes, project specifications, and client requirements.
-
Support engineering teams during tendering and feasibility studies by providing accurate grading and earthwork data.
-
Coordinate with geotechnical, structural, and electrical teams to address design interfaces.
-
Provide technical assistance during design reviews, client presentations, and construction phases.
-
Maintain documentation as per Quality Management System and adhere to safety and environmental guidelines.
Key Deliverables:

Approved grading plans and surface models.

Earthwork volume reports and BOQs for tendering and execution.

Complete set of civil construction drawings for renewable project sites.

Design review reports and compliance checklists.

Required Skills:

Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (surfaces, grading, corridors, volume calculation).

Strong understanding of earthwork estimation, grading optimization, and terrain modeling.

Familiarity with renewable plant layouts, drainage design principles, and land development for large-scale projects.

Knowledge of international standards (AASHTO, BS, IEC, or equivalent) and local regulations.

Proficient in MS Office; working knowledge of tools like Navisworks, InfraWorks is an advantage.
