As a leading player in digital services for complex nuclear projects, Assystem presented the transformational potential of digital solutions in the UK’s nuclear renaissance to Parliamentarians and business leaders at a bespoke reception at Nuclear Week in Parliament this week.

Digital transformation in the nuclear sector

The event featured speeches from the Minister for Nuclear and Networks Andrew Bowie MP, as well as key business partners including EDF, Oracle and Dassault Systemes, and Co-Chair for the Nuclear All-Party parliamentary Group, Virginia Crosbie MP. Assystem’s UK Head of Digital, Graham Openshaw and the speakers reflected on the significant role that digital innovation such as digital twins, augmented reality and artificial intelligence will have in building the UK’s new nuclear fleet.

Paving the way to net zero

New nuclear projects, whether large-scale or small and modular, have the potential to be developed using state-of-the-art digital solutions which enhance safety and maximise efficiency. Enabling the rapid deployment of these low-carbon technologies will support the UK’s transition to an energy secure net zero economy.

Digital empowering the energy transition

Supporting this, Assystem’s comprehensive project management and construction management offers harness the power of data and collaborative digital tools to deliver a one-stop service covering every stage of a complex infrastructure project, such as new nuclear power plants, optimising productivity, improving knowledge sharing between stakeholders, and further reinforcing safety.

Graham Openshaw, Assystem’s UK Head of Digital, said: “In this digital era, it is not just about harnessing the atom, but also about tapping into the power of data and innovation to build new nuclear faster and better. Assystem is pleased to be a leader in this space.
