CONTEXT AND CHALLENGES

Conduced jointly with the plants' operator, this initiative is supported by an agile team tasked with facilitating the roll-out and industrialisation of innovative digital solutions, thereby contributing to the success of the decennial inspections of the fleet.

This project, which is essential for extending the operational life of the reactors beyond forty years, incorporates major upgrades aimed at enhancing safety, implementing lessons learnt from Fukushima and better managing the ageing of the facilities.

In this context, Assystem has been selected to develop and deploy digital tools tailored to operational needs on the field.
The main objectives are as follows: to accelerate the roll-out of business applications by facilitating their development and integration; to improve the operational efficiency of the teams deployed during the ten-year inspections through the use of suitable and robust tools; and, finally, to test, secure and validate the digital applications in advance, before their integration into more comprehensive and sustainable solutions.

MIssions

Within this digital team, the roles of Product Owner and Developer form part of a rapid and targeted response mechanism that complements traditional Information Systems (IS). Our mission is to provide operational and pragmatic digital solutions tailored to the business needs of the nuclear sector.

Our mission is structured around three main areas:

Rapid, user-focused development

We design and develop business applications to meet urgent operational needs. This work is based on:

  • Short iteration cycles with users, enabling features to be tailored as closely as possible to real-world conditions;
  • The ability to deliver operational solutions quickly, despite tight deadlines;
  • A continuous improvement approach focused on the actual use of the applications.

Mastery of the application lifecycle

Development is guided by a commitment to reliability and lifecycle management:

  • Design of robust applications, tailored to their functional scope and operational lifespan;
  • Anticipation of scalability, migration or decommissioning of solutions, in line with target trajectories;
  • Production of documentation to facilitate handover, maintenance or controlled decommissioning.

Collaboration and integration within the IS ecosystem

Our activities are based on close collaboration with business teams and those involved in the Decennial Inspections:

  • Working closely with users, operational teams and Decennial Inspections projects to ensure the suitability of solutions;
  • Ongoing coordination with IT teams to ensure technical consistency, security and compliance of applications;
  • Active contribution to the testing, validation and go-live phases, ensuring seamless integration into the existing digital environment.

Client benefits

The benefits for business teams result in a significant improvement in their working conditions and operational performance. The rapid provision of suitable digital tools effectively supports on-site requirements, whilst ensuring optimal operational continuity during the Decennial Inspections.

This approach also helps to enhance the efficiency and reliability of operations carried out, thanks to solutions that are better suited, more robust and directly aligned with the challenges of the Decennial Inspections. It also helps to reduce operational risks, particularly those linked to the lack of appropriate digital tools or the use of devices that are insufficiently adapted to the constraints of the nuclear sector.

Finally, the approach offers greater flexibility and responsiveness in a particularly demanding industrial environment. It enables tools to be rapidly adapted to emerging needs, thereby ensuring the adaptability essential to meeting safety, availability and performance requirements.
