Project presentation

GenF, an innovative start-up and subsidiary of the Thales Group, aims to transform energy production by designing an inertial confinement fusion reactor. The process relies on the use of ultra-powerful, high-energy lasers capable of rapidly and uniformly compressing a capsule containing a mixture of deuterium and tritium, triggering fusion.

To test their technologies, GenF has launched a parallel project to build a test laboratory, called FusionHub, in the Aquitaine region. Assystem has committed to working alongside them to carry out the preliminary studies of the general installation in conceptual design phase and define requirements to support them in contracting the construction studies.

Project Scope

  • Conducting a functional analysis of the installation
    • Identifying the needs, requirements and stakeholders of the building project
    • Drawing up the technical specifications for the building
    • Producing the layout plan building
  • Analysing and challenging the client's needs in the building
  • Controlling and managing spaces and interfaces
  • Building cost estimates
  • Preparation for the architect engineer contract
    • Overseeing studies and deliverables for the contract with an architect engineer for the construction of the building

Client benefits

  • Assystem expertise in building requirements management and analysis
  • Provision of dedicated technical expertise (general installation, civil engineering, ventilation) for laboratory design
