Job Description

🚀 Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit! 🚀Reporting to the Turbine Island Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for various Turbine Island design development activities. The Mechanical Engineer shall work closely with multi-disciplined teams and the supply chain to help deliver the Turbine Island design.

Your mission:

  • Ensure supplier deliverables meet requirements.
  • Develop and check design documents with Senior Engineers.
  • Assist in design development activities and optioneering studies.
  • Apply Systems Engineering principles.
  • Integrate Turbine Island design into wider power plant infrastructure.
  • Engage with stakeholders and attend design reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality management.

My profile

  • Minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Relevant senior engineering experience in sectors like offshore, renewables, nuclear, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Solid background in mechanical and structural engineering.
  • Proficient with CAD software: Skilled in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or Catia.
  • Strong mathematical skills: Experienced with MathCAD software.
  • Skilled in producing technical reports: Expertise in creating design and substantiation reports, assembly procedures, etc.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes: Understanding of welding, machining, etc.
  • Experienced with the engineering design cycle from Concept to Manufacture.

Additional Information:

  •  Familiar with European and Offshore standards: Experience with Eurocode 3 and DNV.
  • Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Skilled in checking and approving engineering CAD assemblies and drawings.
  • Proficient in verifying engineering documentation: Manual calculations, reports, etc.
  • Excellent Finite Element Analysis skills: In-depth knowledge of ANSYS Workbench is desirable.
  • Experienced in non-linear and fatigue FEA: Familiar with DNV and Eurocodes.

Due to the nature of the work, applicants must meet UK security clearance criteria.
