We are a collective committed to making the energy switch. Sharing our knowledge, expertise and values allows us to innovate and think differently about the energy transition.

Here is how you can be a part of that switch:

Job Description

As Chief Safety & Risk Consultant – Human Factors within Assystem’s Safety & Risk business, you will lead the strategic development and growth of our Human Factors capability across nuclear, defence and critical infrastructure programmes. This is a senior leadership role where you will shape direction, define service offerings and ensure our capability aligns with evolving client needs and market demand.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to develop value propositions, support business development and strengthen our position in key markets. Alongside this, you will provide technical oversight on projects, ensuring that Human Factors is effectively integrated into engineering, safety and operational decision-making.

A key part of the role will be building and developing capability—leading technical teams, mentoring individuals and driving continuous improvement in methods, tools and ways of working. You will also represent Human Factors both internally and externally, influencing strategy, fostering collaboration and ensuring a consistent, high-quality approach across the business.

My profile

You will bring deep expertise in Human Factors, with experience applying the discipline within nuclear, defence or other high-hazard environments. A strong track record in technical leadership, capability development or strategic roles is essential, along with the ability to translate client needs into practical, value-driven solutions.

You will be comfortable operating at senior level, engaging with clients, influencing stakeholders and managing competing priorities. Experience supporting business development, shaping service offerings or contributing to growth strategies would be advantageous.

A relevant degree in Human Factors, ergonomics, psychology or a related discipline is required. Professional recognition (e.g. CIEHF membership) is desirable.
