Job Description
This is a full-time, site-based senior leadership role located in Leiston, Suffolk, supporting delivery on the Sizewell C Main Development Site. You will provide leadership across a defined section of the Site Delivery footprint, with accountability for capital works delivery and delegated Principal Contractor responsibilities.
You will be accountable for the following, across your defined area of the Site Delivery portfolio:
- Provide clear leadership and direction to Senior Managers and Area Delivery teams, holding delegated Principal Contractor responsibilities.
- Integrate delivery activities with wider SZC programmes and alliances, ensuring effective management of cross-programme interfaces.
- Define and execute delivery strategies aligned to the Programme Execution Plan, translating strategic intent into practical execution.
- Secure and maintain appropriately resourced, SQEP-compliant teams, identifying capability gaps and addressing resourcing risks early.
- Drive safe delivery of works to agreed scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements, in line with nuclear and CDM obligations.
- Own programme performance within your area, monitoring progress against milestones, budget, and risk, and reporting to Site Delivery leadership.
- Lead risk identification, mitigation planning, and issue resolution, including proposals for schedule or budget adjustments where required.
- Ensure development, integration, and maintenance of detailed schedules aligned with the overall project baseline.
- Maintain oversight of the List of Deliverables, ensuring all contractual and technical outputs are delivered and accepted.
- Apply continuous improvement principles, embedding learning, efficiency, and best practice into day-to-day delivery.
- Ensure full compliance with statutory legislation, the CDM strategy, and nuclear site licence requirements.
- Build and sustain strong working relationships across delivery teams, supply chain partners, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
My profile
Nuclear experience is not essential, but is of course welcome. If you have worked within a highly regulated environment, your skills, behaviours, and delivery discipline are highly transferable and of strong interest to us.
We also recognise that the perfect candidate rarely exists. If you feel you meet around 80% of the criteria and are motivated to develop further, we would strongly encourage you to apply.
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Fellow of ICE, IStructE, or CIOB, preferred.
- Practitioner-level knowledge of project management methodologies such as APM and or PRINCE2.
- Proven experience delivering large, complex construction or infrastructure projects through the full lifecycle.
- Strong leadership capability within technically complex, safety-critical, and regulated environments.
- Experience managing multi-discipline EPCM or alliance-based delivery models.
- Demonstrable commercial capability, including cost control, risk management, change control, and earned value management.
- Experience managing NEC and or FIDIC contracts and complex supply chains.
- Understanding of quality management in regulated industries and the application of a graded approach to quality.
- Strong planning, scheduling, and interface management capability at programme level.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
- High level of numerical, analytical, and reporting capability.
