Context and challenges

The client is a major actor in the Saudi Arabia, working for the ministry of Riyadh. Its project was to develop a security headquarters network linked to the Kingdom.
This project consisted of 24 different sites:

  • 16 of them were awarded to this client as EPC contractor, a major player undertaking Civil, Architectural, Mechanical and Electrical works
  • 8 sited were awarded to another EPC contractor company

This client appointed Assystem to perform the design work for the following buildings built up: 7 directorates’ sites (civil defense, border guard, passport, jails, administration investigation & technical affairs), 4 sports centres, 4 housing sites and one central district facility.


  • Design verification and design development for all tender documents (all engineering disciplines) for various types of main headquarters and housing buildings as well as insinuations and mega sites infrastructure development
  • Development of BIM including LOD 350 (Level of Development) for all main buildings in the project
  • Review the project drawings

First project developed for the Ministry of Riyadh, which led to other projects in this building network with same main contractor.


  • Improvement of the design quality and speed up of the design stage thanks to BIM implementation
  • Reduction of potential errors in the construction stage
