Project description

A well known French businessman and entrepreneur wanted to create the world’s biggest digital incubator and chose the Halle Freyssinet in Paris, a listed 1920’s railway goods building, renamed “Station F”, as the location for this ambitious project. The goal was to attract more than 1,000 start-up businesses in Paris.

The renovation project consisted in the restoration of the 35 000m² superstructure with a 3-level, internal metal framework, allowing the creation of start-up ‘villages’, each of which was serviced by underground galleries. An amphitheatre, a restaurant and a business and commercial services center have been planned to provide the working infrastructure necessary for everyday life of 3,500 entrepreneurs at Station F.

The client appointed Assystem for the management of the architectural and engineering design, and set up a global approach using BIM (Building Information Modeling). Assystem was the graphical referent thanks to its digital model and provided project coordination using the BIM management tool.

Project scope

Assystem produced the technical and architectural design in 3D (Revit model) and undertook:

  • BIM Management throughout the project
  • PRO modelling before appointment of contractors
  • BIM pre-synthesis at the end of PRO
  • Modelling of the contractors’ construction plans
  • Transmission of 2D outputs resulting from the design for finalisation of the construction plans
  • Transmission of the reference model to contractors

Client benefits

The model produced is now used by the “facility management” companies to ensure maintenance of the site.
