Assystem has announced its sponsorship of the Inclusion and Diversity in Nuclear (IDN) conference, which is scheduled to take place on the 8th of June at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Manchester. This sponsorship forms part of the company's global initiative, the Switch to ImpAct programme, which aims to improve equity, diversity, and inclusion in all of its markets and countries of operation through its Switch & Act for People pillar.

Inclusion and Diversity

The IDN conference is an annual event that brings together representatives from the UK nuclear sector to discuss ways to improve inclusion and diversity within the industry. The conference features workshops, panel discussions, and guest speakers, all focused on achieving a more equitable trade.

The event is accessible to organisations of all sizes, with invites to the conference and all its activities provided free of charge. This is made possible through the support of companies such as Assystem, who recognise the importance of improving diversity and inclusion within the nuclear industry.

Assystem’s commitment

Assystem's sponsorship of the IDN conference is a part of its broader commitment to social responsibility and sustainability. The Switch to ImpAct programme, launched in 2020, aims to create a positive impact on society and the environment, with a focus on promoting long-lasting equity in the global energy transition.

Leading initiatives seeking to address the reality of Assystem’s inclusion challenge in the UK include:

  • IncredibleWomen – A proactive, ambitious and concrete global programme that seeks to promote professional equality within Assystem, which has delivered an uplift in the recruitment of women to 40% in 2023, compared to 19% in 2020. In addition to recruitment, the programme also provides career support and mentoring to Assystem’s female talent.
  • The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Forum – a grassroots employee group which runs internal events, scrutinises corporate policy and liaises directly with Assystem’s UK People Team.
  • Sponsorship of the Women and Work APPG – a forum to constructively examine and debate the role that policy makers can play to deliver gender balance within the economy.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Vicky Proctor, Assystem's UK Chief People Officer said, "We are proud to be sponsoring the Inclusion and Diversity in Nuclear conference and to be part of the effort to promote greater diversity and inclusion within the nuclear industry. This is one of the many steps that we are taking to support the drive towards greater equity within the energy sector."
